Topic
Longer COVID: How can NZ businesses succeed overseas?
Date & Time

Selected Sessions:

Sep 22, 2021 05:00 AM

Description
Aotearoa has always been long way from export markets in Asia, the US and Europe. However, pre-COVID, customers, distributors and suppliers were readily accessible by air travel. Relationships could be established and maintained face-to-face, facilities could be eyeballed and major issues could be resolved in-person. Join us to hear from an outstanding panel of business leaders, who will share their insights into the direction we could choose to both survive and thrive by selling to the world. Our panelists are Charlotte Walshe - CEO, Jade Software Corporation; Rachel Taulelei MNZM - Former CEO, Kono; Ben Reed - Managing Director, Hamilton Jet; facilitated by Stephen Hickson - Director of Taught Masters Programmes, UC Business School. The COVID era has resulted in an ongoing halt to frictionless business travel. NZ’s ability to pay our way in the world has also been challenged by supply chain disruption, rising nationalism and stalled progress towards freer trade. The greater adoption of video conferencing and cloud technologies have been very helpful but these may be insufficient to mitigate all of the challenges faced. Government policies around border controls, vaccination and managed isolation may have a dominant role in determining our future. But beyond lobbying government, NZ businesses must also adapt to the new normal. We are excited to hear from an outstanding panel of business leaders, who will share their insights into the direction we could choose to both survive and thrive by selling to the world.
